Who We Are
Cucharadas de Amor A.C. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the holistic development of children and families living in vulnerable conditions in the Lomas de la Primavera community in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.
Our work is born from a deep desire to transform lives by providing access to opportunities that allow every person to reach their full potential. Every day, we work to meet the most urgent needs of our community by providing educational support, character-building programs, and nutritional assistance to those who need it most.
We firmly believe that real change begins when you strengthen the foundations of learning, self-esteem, responsibility, and community. That is why everything we do aims to create a lasting impact, not only addressing immediate needs, but contributing to the personal and social growth of every family we serve.
Our Story
The story of Cucharadas de Amor begins in 1997, when Madre Orfa Maía Núñez, moved by the extreme poverty she witnessed in the Lomas de la Primavera neighborhood, started a community project focused on providing food to families in need.
For years, this work was sustained by the dedication and service of those who participated, reaching many families who found relief in this support during difficult times.
In 2016, due to her advanced age, Madre Orfa retired from active leadership. Ernestina Gómez Llanos Leaños took over, and later invited Gabriela Maldonado Padilla to join the project. Gabriela continues to lead the organization to this day.
As community needs grew, Cucharadas de Amor was formally incorporated as a nonprofit in 2017. In 2020, in response to the pandemic, the team reimagined its approach by building a holistic model around education, personal development, and nutritional support.
To provide better opportunities for people living in vulnerable conditions in the Lomas de la Primavera community through strategies built on education, personal development, and nutritional support.
To transform the lives of children and their families by providing access to education, personal growth opportunities, and tools to reach their full potential.
Our work is guided by three core values that shape everything we do: love, awareness, and responsibility.
We serve with empathy and respect, walking alongside every child and family with dignity and compassion.
We stay attentive to the realities of our community and respond with care, intention, and meaningful action.
We encourage personal and social commitment so families can grow stronger and contribute to their community.
